There are many quotes in the Grapes of Wrath that are enjoyablee and very hold true to today's society as well. One that I really like is “It ain’t that big. The whole United States ain’t that big. It ain’t that big. It ain’t big enough. There ain’t room enough for you an’ me, for your kind an’ my kind, for rich and poor together all in one country, for thieves and honest men. For hunger and fat.”(Steinbeck 387). I think that this is an attitude that is still very very true today. We have all kinds of ethnic groups, and different groups of social classes. A lot of people think that there is not room for two different types of people and that people of higher social classes do not think that people being in a lower social class than them matter. It is almost like they believe that they are better than people that do not have as much money as them. There also have been tons of problems in history with different ethnic groups and races because of a certain race thinking that they are in a higher class than them and think that they are better than them too. However I think that there are tons of different people that can all live in the same prediciment in the same world, in the same United States. There are many different types of people that can coexist. It just gives our country diversity, and makes it the melting pot that it is. I think that the world is big enough for everyone, and that people need to just accept that not everybody is alike and that they are going to be here whether you like it or not. We are all welcome on our planet. Sometimes people that think they are better than others and that others do not belong here or the world is not big enough for the other people come from our own country. So basically the United States needs to just get over that. There is room for everyone!
