The Grapes of Wrath is a book that people of all ages read. When I brought this book home after purchase from Barnes and Noble, my mother actually told me that she read this book when she was a student in High School and it was one of her favorites. If my mother read it, and now I am having to read it then I thought that it must be a classic novel. After reading the book Grapes of Wrath I have decided it is a classic book with a rather timeless message.

It is so classic partly because of the time period it is taking place in a time period that a lot of lessons were learned in. The Joad's have a lot of hardship that they must overcome(Steinbeck 86). They do not ever get out of poverty. At the end of the book the Joad's are still starving and extremely poor, but they do survive through the hard times and remain a close family who still loves each other(Steinbeck 310). They never really beat the economy, they are always struggling, but you still learn a lot because they never give in even after all the years of hardship and really tough times. It is a memorable story, with a remarkable family.

Another reason I think that the novel is so successful and timeless is because with along with having a good message, it is a good read. The plot has a lot of ups and downs and there is some twists with murders and other dark things. The story is also about a bunch of people trying to work together to get a job done. With all the people working together and the bad things that happen, you can not help but to keep turning the page until you finish the book. With it being an easy good read because it is interesting, and having some good lessons with not giving up it becomes a timeless book that people actually like to read!
